About Voice Command

Top  Previous  Next

Voice Command is Guitar Guru's speech recognition feature that allows you to control nearly every function of the software using your voice. You can, for example, tell Guitar Guru to play slower, start over, or play a small section of the music repeatedly - all without taking your hands off of your guitar! Compared to using the mouse and keyboard, Voice Command is by far the most effective way to interact with Guitar Guru. Click here to get started.

In addition to the common Guitar Guru commands, Voice Command provides a special subset of commands designed to walk you through the music at your own pace. See Guitar Teacher Commands for more information.

Voice Command Requirements

The following are needed to use Voice Command:

A noise-canceling headset microphone. Although expensive, high quality microphones will undoubtedly produce higher levels of accuracy, tests have shown that Guitar Guru works well with even average quality microphones. The key points when selecting a microphone is that it is noise-canceling and that it is positioned near your mouth. Since you will be playing your guitar along with Guitar Guru, a monaural (single earpiece) headset is highly recommended. See the Guitar Guru FAQ for a list of recommended microphones.
A 400 megahertz or faster computer with 128 megabytes of memory.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later.
The Microsoft speech recognition engine must be installed.

Speech recognition engines are language-specific. English is the only language supported in this release of Guitar Guru.
