Here’s what’s new in this version of Guitar Guru:
| • | Voice Command. Guitar Guru's new speech recognition feature lets you control nearly every function of Guitar Guru using simple voice commands. This lets you keep your hands on your guitar, making Voice Command the most effective way to interact with Guitar Guru. |
| • | New voice controlled learning commands. Use your voice to tell Guitar Guru to walk you through the music at your own pace, just like talking to your own guitar teacher! |
| • | Over 1,000 songs are now available! New sessions are added weekly and a free song is now offered every month. |
| • | General Improvements. Many improvements have been made to overall functionality, including a new maximize window feature. |

What’s new in version 2.1:
| • | WMA music file support. In addition to MIDI and CDs, you can now play your WMA audio files with Guitar Guru Sessions! |
| • | Improved CD-ROM drive support. A wider range of CD-ROM drives are supported, including USB and FireWire external drives. |
| • | A new look. The user interface graphics have been updated using the styling queues of Guitar Guru’s new web site. Includes improvements to the user interface when large fonts are used. |
What’s new in version 2.0?
| • | Play one event at a time both forward and backward. Press the right/left arrow keys to play the next/previous note or chord. Press the down arrow key to repeat the current event. |
| • | Change the tone. Select from 20 different stringed instrument tones. |
| • | New finger dot display types. In addition to the traditional color-coded dots, choose numbered dots or numbered dots with colors. |
| • | Bass guitar support. Check Musicnotes.com often for the latest Sessions for Bass Guitar! |
| • | Play menu. A Play menu has been added to the menu bar providing access to most of the player functions. |
| • | Delayed starts. Gives you time to assume the playing position before the music starts. |
| • | New tuner design. A more intuitive design now uses the tone setting of the current session and works with all guitar orientations. |
| • | New Playing Tips design. View all of the playing tips for the current passage with one button click. |
| • | Mute button. The volume reset button has changed to an audio on/off toggle. |
| • | More sessions. The number of Guitar Guru sessions available has increased tenfold since the release of version 1.0, and new sessions are added weekly! |
