    Williams wrote a song for the noted cellist, violinist and piano clarinetest before the swearing in of Obsma. What was the middle them taken from – it sounds like an old time mountain song. Name?Thanx

      The song they played was a John Williams arrangement of “Air and Simple Gifts”. The ‘old mountain’ tune was the old Shaker hymn “Simple Gifts”. It’s a very popular folk melody. (Credit goes to our Production team for the answer.)
