5 Staff Classical Music Picks for February’s YouPerform Contest

Are you practicing your video entry for February’s YouPerform Contest? In January, we had announced new rules that would allow you to pick from over 1,000 songs featured in our Musicnotes Editions format. Some of you had asked why we limited the contest to the songs that we had arranged. All of our Musicnotes Editions are songs that are within the public domain that we arranged, which gives us the ability to offer you permission to record your performance. Even though you may love songs like Bella’s Lullaby or Stairway to Heaven, legally we can’t grant you permission to record the song. That right belongs to the copyright holder. The

We are thrilled to announce that fourteen-year old Daniel was the winner of Musicnotes.com YouPerform contest for December. Performing a challenging Nutcracker Medley, Daniel arranged the selections from The Nutcracker for the organ. Let’s listen to Daniel as he talks about his love for the organ and a bit about his musical background. I arranged the music for the organ and performed it on my Allen Home Organ. Introducing November’s YouPerform Contest Winner!

November’s contest winner is a true music lover at heart. Weena learned how to play piano at an early age, and played for eight years before going off to college. After successfully pursuing a career in architecture, Weena only recently got back into playing piano. We asked our contest winner this question about our Christmas Medley – “What tips can you share with your fellow music lovers about learning this medley?” I believe that in playing a “medley” such as this, it is extremely important to preserve the character of each song.
