Musicnotes Viewer for Mac: What's New In Version 1.16.11

Changes in Musicnotes Viewer Version 1.16.12
  • What's New:
    • Added button to Viewer’s print dialog, to access advanced Mac Print features.
    • Improved backward compatibility with version 1.14, especially for Intel systems switching in and out of Rosetta.
    • Improved handling for different users on same machine, who may, or may not, use the same Musicnotes account.
    • The Page Up/Page Down/Home/End and arrow keyboard keys work when the Viewer has keyboard focus.
    • Fixed never-ending-cancel/you-have-to-kill-safari bug if you begin printing and press the "Cancel" button.
    • Fixed many display glitches where Safari leaves "holes" in its own toolbar.
    • No longer shows some gratuitous "Could not read reply" messages.

Changes in Musicnotes Viewer Version 1.16.11
  • What's New:
    • This version works on Power PC and Intel Macs running OS X 10.2 or higher. Supported browsers include Safari, Firefox, and Opera or any browser that supports bundled plugins. Internet Explorer 5 is not supported.
    • Rosetta is not needed on Intel Macs, and should be disabled for best performance.
    • Software is distributed as a compressed disk image (.dmg file) which auto-opens when mounted revealing the "Install Musicnotes.pkg" installation program.
    • New installer uses Apple package utility, which handles license agreement, user rights issues, and software installation including fonts.
    • Mac does not need to be restarted to make Musicnotes font available. (However you may need to quit & restart your browser to have the browser recognize the plug-in.)
    • Updated print dialog includes printer selection, page setup, & page range controls.
    • Toolbar buttons and screen refresh problems corrected for Safari.
    • Mac users with diacritics in their names work correctly.
    • Now automatically selects the best fit for landscape or portrait music. Users can override this in the Page Setup dialog.
    • If the server says to do so, our Viewer will label each page copy 1 of 8, copy 2 of 8, etc. If you have already printed 4 copies, it will start with copy 5 of 8, etc.
    • This version of the Viewer can print a different license usage message on the title page.
    • If the server provides the data, the Viewer will put "Brought to you by: Name of sponsor" and optionally a sponsor's URL, on the title page.
    • Recognizes the new MusicPrimaryPerformer metadatum. This is a performing group that is so closely linked to a song that they would be considered the author in the public eye. The old MusicGroupName was originally supposed to do that, but has been watered down with other kinds of performing groups.
    • When printing, the top three lines in the print dialog can vary.
    • Fixed curly brace drawing problem.
    • Downloadable Fonts support added.
  • What's Changed:
    • Print dialog no longer shows the "This will print in landscape" message as the user has control of this in the page setup dialog.
    • Plug-in is now named "Musicnotes.plugin" and is still installed in the "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins" Font location is unchanged.
      • Note the Musicnotes.plugin shows up as a single file to Mac users, but really contains several files that make our program run.
  • Known Issues:
    • Mouse scroll wheel or trackpad two-finger scrolling dosen't work within the plug-in.
    • Opera sometimes shows scrollbars when the browser window size is reduced. It also fails to draw the music background when a dialog is active.
    • You may get a "Could not read reply" message box when something in the viewer request an additional HTML popup window. This can be ignored.
