It wasn't until his fourth album, White Ladder, that Welsh singer/songwriter David Gray broke into U.S. popularity. Of course, opening for a Dave Matthews Band tour and releasing a single as popular as his smash hit "Babylon" didn't hurt Gray's propulsion into international fame.
Utilizing the newfound popularity brought on by White Ladder's success, Gray released a collection of rarities entitled Lost Songs 95-98 soon after.
In 2002 Gray delivered his proper follow-up, A New Day at Midnight. Leaving behind some of his electronic flair in favor of a return to more traditional instruments, Gray focused more effort on his introspective songwriting. The album, while not the blockbuster hit White Ladder was, received a highly positive response from fans and critics alike, with single "Be Mine" leading the way.
Three years later, in September of 2005 Gray released the album Life in Slow Motion with the song "The One I Love" as the first single.
