While working as a waitress in Los Angeles, Colorado native Nichole Nordeman entered a contest sponsored by The Gospel Music Association's Academy of Music Arts. The song she entered, "Why" (in which the crucifixion is viewed through the eyes of a child), won the contest and led to the release of Nordeman's debut album, 1998's Wide Eyed.
In 1999 Nordeman was nominated for the Dove Award for Best New Artist and in 2000 was nominated for Best Female Vocalist. In the years since, she has released three additional albums, showcasing her tremendous skills as both a singer, songwriter and pianist, garnering many more Dove nominations.
Her third album, Woven & Spun not only garnered her the Dove Pop/Contemporary album of the year award, but also led Nordeman to win Dove Awards for Song of the Year (Holy), Songwriter of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year!
In 2005, Nordeman released her fourth full-length album of original material, Brave.
