Hailing from Las Vegas, The Killers joined the post-millenium resurgence of post-punk and New Wave sound that was built by the likes of similar bands such as Interpol, The Rapture and The Strokes. Although their first single, "Mr. Brightside" gained them cult status, it wasn't until "Somebody Told Me" hit radio and MTV that the band erupted in mass popularity.
With obvious influence from bands like The Smiths, Depeche Mode, The Cure and other 80s staples, The Killers have fit into today's popular rock world with little problem - all the while retaining their "cool" factor.
