Queen Lili'oukalani's popular "Aloha Oe" instantly conjures images of sandy beaches, island plumeria, impressive volcanoes and stunning sunsets. In fact, the song has become a musical representation of Hawaii itself.
Translating to "farewell to thee," "Aloha Oe" was inspired by a sendoff salutation expressed to the Islands' last Monarch. Lili'oukalani transcribed the piece in 1878, and "Aloha Oe" came to be regarded as a farewell to the sovereign Hawaiian kingdom.
For this month's sheet music gift, we've added ukulele leadsheet/chords/lyrics of the piece in addition to piano solo, guitar tab and instrumental arrangements. Download any of these scorings at no cost through the end of September.
