Musicnotes Sees Strong Seasonal Results: Downloads Increase 40% In December 2004
Madison, WI – January 6, 2005 – Musicnotes, Inc., the leading online store for downloadable sheet music, announced today a 40% growth in downloads for December 2004 versus the previous year. This growth was signified by an increase from roughly 25,000 sales of digital sheet music, guitar tablature and Guitar Guru Sessions™ in 2003 to 35,000 sales in December 2004.
With increased sales across multiple digital formats and products, actual revenue from downloadable content increased more than 40% over the previous year. This was due in large part to nearly 1,000 Guitar Guru Sessions sold in December. This interactive guitar teaching product, designed to teach aspiring guitarists how to play their favorite songs, was first launched in late November 2003.
As further evidence that the online digital distribution of sheet music is continuing to break out, Musicnotes added over 150,000 new customers in 2004.
“2004 closed with a bang, and 2005 is starting out with great momentum,” said Musicnotes CEO, Kathleen Marsh. “Our new partnership with Guitar Player Magazine is introducing hundreds of thousands of guitarists to the concept of legal downloadable guitar tablature, as well as our innovative Guitar Guru Sessions.”
