Madison, WI – March 3, 2005 – Musicnotes, Inc., the leading online store for downloadable sheet music and guitar tablature, announced today that its MusicnotesXtra technology has been included on the recently released "The Rolling Stones Singles 1968-1971" CD boxed set.
The nine CD, one DVD set, released March 1, 2005 by ABKCO Records chronicles the singles released by The Rolling Stones during the time period of 1968-1971. One disc is devoted entirely to the song “Sympathy for the Devil” and includes several remixes of the song, as well as bonus material developed by Musicnotes in conjunction with ABKCO and Warner Bros. Publications.
The MusicnotesXtra technology included on the "Sympathy for the Devil" single features Musicnotes software and digital sheet music, guitar tablature and a Guitar Guru Session for Sympathy for the Devil. All three versions of the notation, provided as a way for Rolling Stones fans to learn to play the song, feature CD-Synchronization technology, synchronizing the notation on screen with the actual CD audio track.
The Guitar Guru Session, using Musicnotes’ Guitar Guru software, allows guitarists to view a virtual fretboard and pick-hand view displaying proper fingering and picking technique to learn the guitar parts of Sympathy for the Devil. The Guitar Guru Session also includes CD-Synch technology, along with the option of alternate MIDI audio.
"The inclusion of MusicnotesXtra technology in The Rolling Stones Singles 1968-1971 offers the consumer added value. It’s another way of experiencing the Rolling Stones’ artistry in a unique way and we’re proud to have it as part of this package," said Alisa Coleman, Vice President Music, ABKCO.
"This is an incredibly sexy product," said Musicnotes CEO, Kathleen Marsh. "Not only has ABKCO done a wonderful job chronicling and packaging the history of The Rolling Stones, but the addition of Musicnotes technology broadens the appeal of this music beyond listening, to actually learning how to play the music."
All material included on the CD is also available for purchase and download at the Musicnotes.com web site through agreements between Musicnotes, Inc., Warner Bros. Publications and ABKCO. In addition to Sympathy for the Devil, Musicnotes offers an extensive catalog of additional music from The Rolling Stones and other popular artists.
