Good arrangement for experienced solo singers3/14/2015 12:21am
One of many good arrangements of this popular Irish song, with words by Fred Weatherly in 1913 to the even older tune "Londonderry Air". The arrangement sounds a bit modern without being TOO modern or pop for someone with a more classical or folk-type voice to sing it. It is especially suitable for singers who do NOT want the entire arrangement to just double the vocal line all the way through. There is some melody in the piano accompaniment, especially in the first verse, but it veers off by the second to give a nice contrast and let the voice shine out. There are also other arrangements of "Danny Boy" suitable for groups or duet singing, and arrangements that have the melody in the piano part so that a beginning singer may follow along.
