Songs for Valentine’s Day 2015. See What Hits Made This Year’s Must-Play List!

Valentine's Day sheet music

Every February 14th sparkling rays shine down from parted cotton candy clouds and little balloon hearts appear above our heads, right? Hmm… maybe not.

If you’re anything like us, Valentine’s Day can cause a bit of anxiety. Sometimes you fall short of ideas trying to make the holiday extra special for your special someone. Fear not, we’re here to help with the top 10 most romantic songs for Valentine’s Day 2015. These tunes are guaranteed to impress your sweetheart and make this Valentine’s Day one to remember.

1. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran (See the Video)

“And, darling, I will be loving you ’til we’re 70
And, baby, my heart could still fall as hard at 23”

Ed Sheeran has said he wrote his ultra-romantic ballad as a ‘walking-down-the-aisle’ song, although clearly it’s a great ‘waltz-around-your-castle’ song, too, based on his video. Borrow Sheeran’s lyrics (and music) for your sweetie this Valentine’s Day and maybe you, too, will find love “right where you are.”

2. “All of Me” by John Legend (See the Video)

“‘Cause all of me Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges, All your perfect imperfections”

One of 2014’s biggest hits and our record-breaking #2 most popular download of 2014, “All of Me” was praised as a “mountainous piano crusher” by Rolling Stone’s Jon Dolan. This mountain of a song should most likely be reserved for those in pretty serious relationships, casual daters need-not-apply.

3. “Let Her Go” by Passenger (See the Video)

“Well you see her when you fall asleep, But never to touch and never to keep
‘Cause you loved her too much, And you dived too deep”

OK, so Passenger’s “Let Her Go” was released in 2012, and the song, technically, is about loving so much that you ‘let her go,’ but this song still resonates an air of romanticism. This poetic song might be just the ticket if you’re trying to win back an ex-flame.

4. “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding (See the Video)

“You’re the cure, you’re the pain, You’re the only thing I wanna touch
Never knew that it could mean so much”

Even if you have no plans to see the somewhat controversial film, Ellie Goulding’s sultry contribution to the ’50 Shades of Grey’ soundtrack is one of our favorite recent sheet music releases. And, unlike the movie, this Valentine’s Day song is approved for all audiences.

5. “Sugar” by Maroon 5 (See the Video)

“Yeah, you show me good loving, Make it alright
Need a little sweetness in my life”

There’s nothing sweeter than sugar, and Maroon 5’s latest funky love song beats any chalky conversation hearts or stale boxed chocolates we’ve had. This song is great for couples who like to laugh, dance and joke around for Valentine’s Day.

6. “Unconditionally” by Katy Perry (See the Video)

“There is no fear now, Let go and just be free
I will love you unconditionally”

A power vocal ballad that declares unconditional love, Perry told MTV “I love this song because not only can it be a romantic, intimate song, but it can be about the type of love that a mother has when she sees her first child, or best friends or partners.” We, for one, love the idea of celebrating all kinds of love with Valentine’s Day sheet music.

7. “#Beautiful” by Mariah Carey feat. Miguel (See the Video)

“It’s beautiful, ooh you make me feel invincible
And I can’t pretend that doesn’t mean a thing to me”

Mariah is quite possibly the queen of love ballads, “Hero,” “Always Be My Baby,” “My All“… and the list goes on. Our list of songs for Valentine’s Day would be incomplete without a contribution by prolific pop star, who’s still got it after all these years. (Can you believe “Vision of Love” is 25 years old?!?)

8. “XO” by Beyonce (See the Video)

“Your love is bright as ever, Even in the shadows
Baby, kiss me, Before they turn the lights out”

Did you know that the origin of the use of “X” to represent a kiss dates back to the Middle Ages? Bey’s fun-to-play, mid-tempo hit takes a light-hearted approach to love, incorporating Caribbean grooves and un-filtered vocals that are sure to woo your honey on Valentine’s Day.

9. “She Looks So Perfect” by 5 Seconds of Summer (See the Video)

“If I showed up with a plane ticket, And a shiny diamond ring with your name on it
Would you wanna run away too? ‘Cause all I really want is you”

5SOS’s debut single is pop-punk without being cynical or stale. The song describes young romance by way of mixed tapes, skinny jeans and tattoos. Tell your punk-loving lady “She Looks So Perfect” with the gift of song, and she’ll surely start swooning over your shaggy haircut and ripped skinnies.

10. “A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay (See the Video)

“Because you’re a sky, you’re a sky full of stars
Such a heavenly view, You’re such a heavenly view”

Shakespeare had star-crossed lovers, E.E. Cummings wrote love into the stars, and Coldplay themselves declared the stars shine for love. A slight departure from the band’s usual piano ballads, “A Sky Full of Stars” was co-written and co-produced by EDM favorite Avicii. However the song beautifully displays an age-old tradition elevating love to other-worldly status, making it the shining example of songs for Valentine’s Day.
