1. “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables”

This famous song, written by Alain Boubil, Herbert Kretzmer, and Claude-Michel Schönbergchel Schonberg, comes from Les Misérables! Marius sings this song as he mourns the loss of his friends after the fighting at the barricade ends.

2. “Memory”

This iconic song is from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s musical Cats, which is based on the poems of TS Eliot. Grizabella The Glamour Cat sings this song before she’s chosen to ascend to the Heaviside Layer.

3. “Quiet”

Matilda: The Musical is based on the children’s book by Ronald Dahl, with music and lyrics written by Tim Minchin! Matilda sings “Quiet” as she realizes she can move things with her mind.

4. “I’d Do Anything”

“I’d Do Anything” comes from Oliver!, another play based on a book (in this case, “Oliver Twist” by Charles Dickens). For this song, the Artful Dodger, Nancy, and the orphans pretend to be rich.

5. “What Kind of Fool Am I?”

From Stop The World – I Want To Get Off, Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley’s song is performed by the main character, Littlechat. He sings “What Kind of Fool Am I?” while reflecting on his past struggles and mistakes.

6. “Jacob and Sons”

In this upbeat song, from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the Narrator introduces the audience to Jacob and his family!

7. “Another Night at Darryl’s”

The Witches of Eastwick is based on the John Updike novel of the same name. In “Another Night at Darryl’s”, one of the witches, Alex, anticipates the next time she’ll see her love interest, Darryl.

8. “Proud Lady”

This arrangement comes from The Baker’s Wife, which is based on a French film from the 1930s. It also had a short run in the West End back in 1989 but ended up with a cult following! Here, Dominique vows that he will be with Genevieve even though she’s currently married.

9. “Anything Can Happen”

Written by Richard and Robert Sharman for the 2004 production of Mary Poppins, Mary sings this song of encouragement in the second half.

10. “The Point of No Return”

Up next is a classic from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera: “The Point of No Return.” The Phantom has disguised himself so he can perform on stage with Christine, which she realizes during the song!

11. “Fabulous, Baby!”

Sister Act (The Musical) features songs from Alan Menken & Glenn Slater and is based off of the 1992 movie. In “Fabulous, Baby!”, Deloris tells her backup singers about her dreams of fame (before she ends up in the convent).

12. “Once You Lose Your Heart”

In Noel Gay’s “Once You Lose Your Heart” from Me and My Girl, Sally declares her love for her boyfriend Bill, a common man who just found out he’s the next Earl of Hareford and therefore a noble!
