· “Closer to Fine” by Brandi Carlile & Catherine Carlile: Featured on Barbie The Album (Best Weekend Ever Edition), this is a slower acoustic version of the original by the Indigo Girls. This arrangement includes backup vocals and a simple chordal accompaniment, so be sure to bring out the beautiful vocal line.

· “Everyone Who Falls in Love (Has Someone Else They’re Thinking Of)” by Cian Ducrot: This is the Irish singer-songwriter’s single from his upcoming debut album Victory. It begins as a simple piano ballad and then adds more synthesized elements when the mood of the song gets a little darker. These musical changes help to illustrate the complexities of relationships.

· “Mission: Impossible Theme” by Sheet Music Boss: This piano solo arrangement comes from Signature Artist Sheet Music Boss, who gives us his take on this well-known movie theme. The song features a boogie-woogie jazz variation in the middle and eventually builds into big octave chord jumps towards the end, bringing out the dramatic aspects of the piece.

· “Cantaloupe Island” by Herbie Hancock: A jazz standard from the 1964 album Empyrean Isles, this piano solo sounds like a relative of Herbie’s other classic, “Watermelon Man.” It features a repeated piano vamp with funky improvisations throughout. This song may sound familiar as it was sampled on “Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)” by Us3 in 1993 and became a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

· “Eight Days a Week” by Tony Rowden: Originally from The Beatles, this fingerstyle guitar solo arrangement from Signature Artist Tony Rowden features all you need to be a one-person band: the chords, the melody, and the bass line. Singing along is optional but encouraged!

· “All the Things You Are” by Booker Ervin: This tenor saxophone solo transcription comes from the album The Song Book. Originally written for the musical Very Warm for May, this song eventually became a jazz standard. Booker’s solo improvisation flows between continuous eighth note patterns and simpler quarter note triplet motives. It demonstrates the countless possibilities for improvising in a well-written song.

Unique Pick of the Week

· “How Deep Is Your Love” by Patti Rudisill: Originally by The Bee Gees for the movie Saturday Night Fever, this is a new take on a classic song with a string trio from Signature Artist Patti Rudisill. This includes interchangeable Violin 2 and Viola parts, so there is some flexibility for instrumentation. This arrangement is suitable for intermediate players and can be played at weddings, parties, or other special events!
