The 1900s swelled with Tin Pan Alley songs declaring freedom, fun, and finding a lover that makes you swoon. In 1909, music writer Gus Edwards and lyricist Edward Madden gave the world its newest Ragtime obsession: "By the Light of the Silvery Moon."

It’s a timeless tune that lets lovers fantasize the moon’s glow as their own intimate spotlight, illuminating their desire for one another as hopes for their future soar high into that June night sky.

It was originally performed on stage for the first time by Lillian Lorraine. In 1910, Billy Murray and the Haydn Quartet transformed By the Light of the Silvery Moon into siren song for the romantics, delivering a contagious optimism with Quartet’s melody and Murray’s vocals.

This optimism soon caught the attention of performers like Al Jolson in 1946, and Doris Day in the 1953 film version inspired by the song.

Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy this Tin Pan Alley tribute.
