I agree. I actually learned this in G which might be easier and found it hard to get any speed up while looking at the music because I had to look down at the keyboard to make sure my left hand bass note was landing in the right place. A tip I found about playing this is that you play all the bass notes with the little finger of the left hand-it makes it easier. This was a tip not just for this piece but for most ragtime pieces. I decided to memorise the piece which was quite hard but managed it by breaking it down into small sections. It is worth the effort!

This piece by Scott Joplin (in my eyes anyway) is a sensation. Maple Leaf Rag- where ever you go people have heard of it. This piece stand out one of those "all time greats" in the history of Ragtime and Jazz.It is a piece in which ones foot has to tap. It is a great piece to play in company too. e.g partys, Sunday dinners etc. But it is very difficult to learn. But it is well worth it. You get results. You get better results if you learn it the original key of Ab Major. I would recommend it for any any piano player that is ready for a challenge. This piece is wonderful!!!

An anmazing piece

A brilliant piece to add to an intermiediate/advance repertoire and a great introduction to ragtime piano music. A great alternative to one of Scott Joplins other masterpieces; the (still great! but) overplayed Entertainer. Only improvement would be the addition of a couple of bar numbers to make it easier to navigate when leaning!

I had learned this song as a child and lost track of my sheet music years ago. When I began playing again, I wanted to get this song back. This is in the original key and is in an arrangement format that is easy to read. So happy to have it, and so easy to find here!
