God and Country, Especially God

This is a patriotic song that is clearly patriotic, yet it makes a correlation between American liberty and liberty in Christ. The first stanza focuses on Lady Liberty in New York Harbor "with her torch raised to the sky." The second focuses on the cross "with my Lord raised to the sky." First refrain, "Im proud to be called an American." Second, "Im glad to be called a Christian." It has a fairly high tessitura, so dont just consider the top note, because youll hang around there for a while.
