Very barebones version of Hayley Westenra cover
3/14/2015 12:46:25 AMFirst of all, those really wanting Enyas version (from the soundtrack of "The Fellowship of the Rings")---this isnt it and it isnt close. It isnt particularly close to the Westenra versions Ive heard. The digital file plays at the speed of a funeral procession stuck in a road filled with two feet of mud and clay. Let that sink in for a moment. At least with a digital file, you can opt to speed it up, and you can definitely control the tempo played on the piano. As for the piano part--very, very easy and barebones. Chords throughout--not even a single arpeggio in the entire thing. This makes the actual vocal part, which has been stripped largely of the grace notes and other vocal embellishments of the original Enya version, harder to sing unless the singer knows the song extremely well and can sing without much help from the accompaniment (because you wont get any). Im basically okay with this version, and I believe I chose it because it was under the Singer Pro heading. I may consider getting the Enya arrangement Musicnotes has as well. By the way, all versions of this song that contains foreign words actually is not the slightest bit Irish--thats not Celtic. Its Elvish--in particular Tolkeins made-up language "Quenya". Remember, this song was one Enya specifically wrote for the movie.
