Tricky but accurate version of Round Midnight
10/13/2015 6:26:47 PMAs a piano player, I often find the Singer Pro sheets provide accurate transcriptions of notable accompaniments, and this is no exception. If you search the internet you will find Carmen McRae doing this and will see how precise this arrangement is. The only thing is, your singer must be absolutely committed to singing this as Carmen does, with all the same pauses and changes. There is a lot of interplay between the singer and the piano such that either on its own can sound ... puzzling. Also this includes the Dizzy Gillespie intro with Jon Hendricks words ... which you wont hear on most singers version. Theres nothing wrong with versions such as Linda Ronstadts, and some might find the harmonies in this version to be a bit "out there" for their taste, but if you and your singer want a very challenging and seriously jazzy version, this is the one to go for. Listen to Carmen McRae first to make sure this is to your taste, though, then make the appropriate selection.
