Digital Sheet Music Specialist

Musicnotes has been transforming the way people purchase and play sheet music since 1998. We are the world's leading digital sheet music retailer, and as part of the Publications team, you will contribute to the creation, format conversion, editing, proofreading, and maintenance of Musicnotes' digital MTD (Music Transfer Document) format products.

What You'll Do:

  • Using proprietary music notation/engraving software (MusE) to create Musicnotes' Digital Sheet Music products.
  • Reproducing published documents accurately.
  • Making informed editorial decisions that respect publisher expectations and customer demands.
  • Manipulating text documents and other computer files to modify technical and bibliographic data.
  • Utilizing other custom software to manage workflow and update database records.
  • Deriving new products from existing products.
  • Conducting research on history of arrangements (performances, publications, recordings and rights) using internet and internal library resources.
  • Working independently and efficiently with a personal sense of autonomous professionalism
  • Working collaboratively with a small group to achieve common departmental and company goals.
  • Instructing and coaching other members of the extended team on standards and best practices.
  • Participating in training programs as needed.
  • Assisting in software development and bug reporting.
  • Honoring copyright on all submissions as intellectual property of the submitter or copyright holder.
  • Providing excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.

What Youll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in a music-specific field required (education, composition, theory, performance) or experience in lieu of education.
  • A working knowledge of the techniques of music engraving.
  • Base familiarity with Finale or Sibelius notation packages is preferred.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented.
  • Ability to give and receive criticism constructively.
  • Ability to work under pressure without extensive supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to read, write and speak English is a requirement of this position.
