Jo Hovind began childhood piano lessons not realizing it would lead to her B.S. in Music Education and her Masters in Music through studies at the University of West Florida and Pensacola Christian College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. With her Florida State Certification, she served as Pensacola’s Sonata Contest Chairman taking the event from 121 participants to 652. Additional career merits include serving as FSMTA Certification Chairman, accompanist for six professionally recorded albums, and featured pianist in an eleven-grand-piano Christmas Concert. “Granny Jo’s” fifty years of teaching boasts of many students in music professions including: music teachers, student composing an original Operetta; student orchestrating "Seaplane, the Musical"; student composing, orchestrating, and performing an original composition for the Queen of England. Ms. Hovind resides in Pensacola and has three married children and five grandchildren—and yes, they all play the piano!
