Johan Boekema

Johan started his musical career like many at the local wind orchestra at the age of 10. After wandering around with fanfares, pop bands, symphony orchestras and taking a break for a while, he ended up with Big Band Coevorden in 2011. It was there that his renewed musical and especially jazz life began. In the following years he played with several, writes a lot of music (compositions and arrangements) and regularly subbing in for various orchestras. From 2020-2024 he has been following the full-time Jazz Trumpet course at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen. At this moment Johan is an instructor with Showband Marum, conductor of Dutch Spirit Big Band and is a member of Want2Swing Big Band, Stageband Jazz Orchestra en The Jazzmob.
