Iconic Themes & Songs
Born into a musical family, Marcus was immersed in the art from an early age. The son of a professional cellist in the Hallé Orchestra under Sir Mark Elder, he grew up amidst the sound world of rehearsals and performances that sparked a lifelong devotion to music. He studied voice, piano, and trombone at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School, later pursuing conducting with Ewa Strusinska, before graduating with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) in Voice from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Marcus has since appeared widely as both soloist and ensemble singer under conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Gregory Batsleer, and Dane Lam. Notable performances include his portrayal of Jean Valjean in concert performances of Les Misérables at the Carsworth Festival and Buxton Opera House. More recently, he has turned to composition and arrangement, blending his roots in choral, classical, and musical theatre traditions with the expansive influence of modern cinematic soundscapes.
