My parents made me take piano lessons for 30 mintutes each week for ten years as a kid. I didn't practice much at all - mostly just attended lessons regularly. My lack of practice probably frustrated my instructor. As an adult I finally took an interest in playing/practicing. Now I have a grand piano (with computer that I can play along to) and I'm so glad my parents made me take lessons. Now I buy sheet music from MusicNotes, plug a CD (such as Aerosmith or Trans-Siberian Orchestra) into the piano's computer, and have my own miniature concert with the "band" (whomever is on the CD) on a regular basis - sometimes for hours non-stop. It's a blast!!! Thanks MusicNotes for the sheet music to go along with my favorite music CDs!
