Music and History
I use this piece to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. in my piano studio for his national holiday. I like to inform students that Martin valued music and quoted from the classic hymn "Free at Last." They need to know that music is a powerful force that can be used for great good. This is a good arrangement for teaching students to read off a lead sheet and improvise. I also pull it out whenever Im feeling a bit nostalgic, or if I just want to enjoy the beautiful melody.
