Amazingly Not that Complicated to Play
Last week I purchased this arrangement and am well on my way on having it learned. I havent printed one allowed copy yet as of yet. I have been learning it via the MusicNotes app. Which provides a much needed metronome that helps me discern how the notes flow. I can slow it down and hear it at a speed that allows my inner ear to get everything. I cannot stop stressing the importance of having a metronome like that. It is the next best thing to having an accomplished guitar teacher. Or any music teacher for that matter. Kelly Valleau is an accomplished guitarist. This arrangement of his is well done. MusicNotes app, helps when learning his arrangements (theyll all high quality arrangements). This arrangement of "Shine On" is based on the non-instrumental portions of the tune. It is surprising not that difficult to play. You dont even need to do the percussive techniques that Kelly is known for, and uses also on this tune, for one to play this song nicely. A basic classical guitarist / finger picking technique works just fine. As long as you keep a steady beat and discern the notes correctly. The arrangement flows like a river. It also sounds very true with the initial music theory of the original Pink Floyd recording. I was excited when I purchased this arrangement and my excitement has only increased. As learning it has been easier than first thought. Get it. Its worth the money, time, effort, and reward of learning to play it. Itll build confidence. Not every finger style guitarist is able to play a decent finger picking arrangement of Shine on You Crazy Diamond.
