Guitarist/Composer Matthew Cochran is praised for his “commanding stage presence, intimate expression and inventive interpretation” (Soundboard) and "Strong, nuanced, textured performances with compelling dynamics and a beautiful sound” (Classical Guitar Magazine). Cochran’s original music for classical and electric guitars, electronics, and traditional chamber music are performed by some of today's leading performers. Cochran performs as a soloist and with Scottish guitarist Matthew McAllister. Cochran often collaborates with composers on the creation of new guitar including Steve Reich, Max Richter, Edie Hill, Apostolos Paraskevas, Jacob Ter Veldhuis, Sean Hickey and many others. Cochran’s many recordings, performances and interviews have been featured on NPR, BBC, Radio Poland and CBC. Cochran holds a Doctorate in Classical Guitar Performance from the Florida State University College of Music, and a Masters and Bachelors in Classical Guitar Performance from the Eastman School of Music.
