This is a French Edith Piaff classic. If you love Edith Piaff, and your friends and family do too, be sure to perform this song. With the beautiful melody, and the exotic, passionate sounding French language, you would sure impress anyone with this.

Another excellent arrangement from Musicnotes. I love how you can choose from many different versions, and transpose to many different keys. The printer format is always perfect too. So happy to have found this website.

The good: Actual piano intro (doesnt just repeat singers first line). The bad: The melodic line is altered to accommodate the English translation, and then the French words are squeezed or stretched to fit (only a problem if youre singing in French). The timing of the first four bars on page 4 is inexplicably altered, and not in a good way. Listen to Piaf. The "original published" key listed for this song (C major) is way too high. Piaf (cant get more original than that) performed it in A major or thereabouts (hard to pin down with that vibrato).

This was a good starting point for my own arrangement. The guitar chords on the chart were useful but the sequence that I heard was a bit different than the score, and the placement of the chords on top of the melody was often off by a bar or so.
